Some people find that the triggers to their migraines can be based on the food they have been consuming. There are a lot of different foods which have shown to be triggers for a variety of people. Not all foods act as triggers for everyone, but these are common. Some trigger foods include: chocolate, red wine, hot dogs, bacon, deli meats, swiss cheese, feta cheese, pickled foods, beans, druid fruit, sour cream and yogurt. There are also many wider varieties, like processed foods, foods that are very cold or foods containing MSG. Instead, try buying some healthier foods and leafy greens.
4 - Essential Oils
Many people have turned to essential oils as a way to assist them with a variety of health issues. Specifically to migraines, lavender oil is thought to assist with migraine pain. Lavender oil is best used when inhaled. This means, add to water and then breathe in the heated water. Lavender oil can also be used as a topical treatment as long as it’s diluted. It should be applied directly to the temples. Peppermint oil is another alternative. It should be used with the same methodology and can help with several migraine symptoms.
5 - Meditation
Stress can be a severe trigger for many people who suffer from migraines. One of the best stress management techniques can be taught through meditation. Meditation is different for everyone, but the best way to get started is set up a peaceful area in your home. You may want to play sounds or music, so if you need to get something like a portable speaker, that can be useful. Focus on breathing to start and don’t expect to be great right away. Small steps are the way to improve in meditation.
