Deodorant is the Natural Enemy of Body Odor!
Whether they went for a 3 mile run on a hot day or walked up several flights of stairs, people find at one time or another that they can have body odor. Body odor is something that can offend others and even stigmatize a person in social, work, and other settings. However, it is something that often can be prevented even on the hottest of days.
Some people do not understand that you do not have to sweat (or they may not remember sweating) to have a body odor. Body odor occurs anywhere on the body but most easily occurs in the armpits and groin area because these areas are typically the warmest and because air circulation is restricted by layers of undergarments and clothing. Body odor is also found in, on, or around the genitals, belly button, pubic and other hairy areas, the feet, and even behind ears. However, there are several reasons for body odor.

What Causes Body Odor?
Some people may not understand that their scent varies depending on their health, any medications, diet, and even their sex. Spicy and/or pungent foods can also boost your chances of giving off an unpleasant body odor. Some examples include onions, garlic, cruciferous vegetables (though these food are very good for a person's health), etc.
Bacteria on the skin break proteins down and turns them into acids that create odor. Warm, moist places such as the groin and armpits are the areas where this most easily occurs because apocrine glands are located in these areas in greater numbers than other areas of the body. These glands are scent glands and they contribute to body odor.
Once the apocrine glands release protein-rich sweat, bacteria on the skin create foul-smelling substances and if the person continues wearing damp socks, damp underwear, or has sweated in their shirt, they are more likely to become more odorous. Keeping the skin clean is the first step in avoiding odor. It is important to understand that when there is an odor, soap and water must be used to get a truly clean start. Using deodorant daily after showering or bathing is the best choice. Shaving excess hair significantly reduces body odor as well.
